About & Submissions

LIKE A FEVER is Asia Art Archive's online publishing platform of art and cultural criticism—obsessive, moody, and oriented towards cure.

We publish essays, conversations, poems, translations, illustrations, artist interventions, and more.

While we operate within a contemporary art archive, we also welcome writing about the aesthetics of films, video games, sports, food, laundry—basically, no topic is off limits if you’re capable of deploying a critical yet personal sensibility, with compelling stakes that clarify narratives rather than simply "complicate" them.

We're biased towards work that

• adopts a personal voice (intimate, affective, mood-based) while avoiding navel-gazy self-absorption;

• offers strong propositions and counterintuitive analyses over merely descriptive commentary—new ways of thinking, rather than simply new things to think about;

• speaks with poetic precision, while acknowledging the limits of mere words;

• understands how different aesthetic or formal choices reflect different theoretical positions.

Our publishing schedule is on a rolling basis, and you can expect new pieces each month.

LIKE A FEVER builds upon AAA’s previous publications, IDEAS Journal (2016–23), Field Notes (2012–16), and inaugural newsletter, Diaaalogue (2002–12). If you are looking for our old content, you will discover that it is still searchable on the website.

We accept pitches all year round.
