Artist talk by Simryn Gill.

Station Hotel is a systematic documentary record of a derelict hotel, made nearly ten years ago. The photographs were only recently printed and have never been shown. Gill will talk about her practice through this long-standing work in progress, of nearly 70 images contained in time and place on the surface of photographic negatives.

Simryn Gill was born in Singapore and presently lives in Port Dickson, Malaysia and Sydney, Australia. Her methods include photography, drawing, writing. Recent exhibitions include a survey of her photographs at the NTU Centre for Contemporary Art, Singapore (2015), and a new project made for the Dhaka Art Summit (2016). Gill showed at the Australian Pavilion at the Venice Biennale (2013), documenta 13 (2012), and documenta 12 (2007). Later this year, her work will be shown at the Museum of Fine Arts, Ghent, in April.
