Asia Art Archive welcomes Alec Steadman as our researcher-in-residence.
 
Steadman is a London-based curator and the inaugural 2015 Exhibition Studies Research Fellow at AAA co-organised with Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts, London. His research project explores the diverse models of self-organisation currently practiced and developed by artists in Asia with a particular focus on the Southeast Asian archipelago.
 
Alec Steadman is the current Curator at The Arts Catalyst, London, and Associate Curator at Cemeti Art House, Yogyakarta. He was Artistic Director of Contemporary Image Collective (CIC), Cairo (2013-2014); and curator-in-residence at the Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo, Torino (2013). He participated in de appel Curatorial Programme, Amsterdam, co-curating the citywide exhibition ‘Three Artists Walk into a Bar… and Why Stay If You Can Go?’ (2012) for Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam. Steadman was the Head of Exhibitions for Zoo Art Fair and a member of artist collective The Hut Project from 2005–2011. He is presently completing an MRes Art: Exhibition Studies at Central Saint Martins.
