'Archiving the Contemporary', which took place from 18 April to 20 April 2005, brought together over 40 art professionals from around the world to look at the problematics of archiving, collection policies, classification systems, technology advancement, preservation, knowledge management and information sharing on contemporary art from Asia.
The workshop adopted various components, including keynote speeches, case analyses and smaller group discussions. Bilingual proceedings of the workshop were posted online in late 2006, in which a forum has been included as a platform to further discuss issues and challenges about art archiving and documentation in general and on contemporary Asian Art.
The 'Archiving the Contemporary' workshop was made possible with funds from the W.L.S. Spencer Foundation, Sino Group, Asian Cultural Council and American Center Foundation.
