Tokyo, Japan, Asia

Overview Tokyo Biennale, among the first of its genre in Japan, was a relatively long-running biennale. It started in 1952 and ended in 1990, with a total of 18 editions. Commissioned by Yusuke Nakahara and curated by Toshiaki Minemura, the 10th biennale in 1970, entitled “Between Man and Matter”, was the most well-known because of its inclusiveness as a comprehensive review of the art trends of that time.
