To date, over 70 international biennials/triennials showcasing contemporary art are taken place around the world, an overwhelming majority of which began in the 1990s. This biennial phenomenon is characterised by the inclusion of an increasing numbers of Asian artists and a mushrooming of biennial type exhibitions in the Asia-Pacific region.
All You Want To Know About International Art Biennials is an online project that aims to chart
and map the modes, development and diversities of international biennials and triennials world-wide, with the intention of highlighting those in which Asian artists have participated since the 1990s. Through the display of facts, statistics and documentation resources, this project intends to paint a comprehensive picture of the biennial phenomenon, and serve as a research tool.
All You Want To Know About International Art Biennials is presented by the Asia Art Archive, in
collaboration with Art Map Limited. It is a fringe programme of the Hong Kong Art Biennial 2005.
