Located in a high rise in Sheung Wan, Asia Art Archive (AAA) has been described as a vessel of contemporary art ideas floating amidst the city. Beyond the mountainous landscape surrounding Sheung Wan, the common link between AAA and its neighbours lies in the value of art.
In response to the call of this year's October Contemporary, ‘Now, or Never’, AAA invites artist Leung Chi Wo to connect AAA to the immediate neighbourhood by interviewing residents about their favourite possessions or those which they believe contain artistic value. The project will culminate in a location-specific artwork transmitting these interviews connecting AAA with its neighbours socially and artistically, and revealing an invisible fabric of knowledge exchange.
Throughout this October, the Archive will become an observation platform that takes the viewers on different journeys as personal stories unfold from their favourite possessions; it will become a lens through which to consider the meaning of contemporaneity.

About October Contemporary
October Contemporary (OC) is a non-profit initiative devoted to the contemporary arts since 2007, and the only event of its kind in Hong Kong. In its third year, OC 2009 takes Now, or Never to be its slogan, to imbue a sense of urgency among both art practitioners and the wider public to think critically, creatively, and persistently about the contemporary arts and to care for its value to our society.
