Artists and art organizations in China and Hong Kong have been active in raising money for those affected by the Sichuan earthquake and the Myanmar cyclone. In Hong Kong, Parasite and 10 Chancery Lane held an auction of works donated by artists, individuals and galleries, while in Beijing, Three Shadows Photography Art Centre auctioned donated works, as well as other prizes.
Another project going forward in Hong Kong is ‘Art Care’. Local artists are being invited to decorate donation boxes, which will be placed at different art venues for a year and carried by volunteers to every opening. The decorated donation boxes will be displayed at Artist Commune from 7 to 20 June, in order to start the fundraising process and to source more volunteers. The project is co-organized by Artist Commune Board and Art in Hospital. Please contact Wilson Yeung alphaproi@yahoo.com.hk or Jeff Leung read.jeff@gmail.com for further details.
The Asia Art Archive would like to ask you to take a moment to make a donation to one of the suggested charities below, collecting for the Sichuan Earthquake or the Myanmar Cyclone.
