Press Release
In continuation of the 2009 Reflection: The World Through Art curated by Mr. Fumio Nanjo and the 2011 Ecosophia (ecology+philosophy): Art and Architecture curated by Mr. Takayo Iida, Dojima River Forum is pleased to announce the Taiwanese curator Rudy Tseng, member of the Tate Gallery Asia Acquisition Committee, will be the artistic director of the Dojima River Biennale, 2013. This is the first time Dojima River Forums invites a foreign curator to conduct Dojima River Biennale. Mr. Tseng has curated Documented, Doubted and Imagined Reality: Contemporary Photography from Japan and Taiwan, 2011 and The Discreet Charm of Bourgeoisie: Contemporary Vision on China, 2012.

The Dojima River Forum is set on the beautiful riverbanks of Dojima River, in the heart of the traditional Osaka. At Dojima River, water plays an important part to the scene and the everyday life of the people here. In history, the rich culture and civilization in Asia arose along river valleys, where the development of agriculture, economy to poem and literature came to formation. Inspired by the beauty of flowing water and its significance in many different aspects. Mr. Tseng reinvestigates the traditional meaning of the water and explores its role in different aspects of agriculture, literature, ecology and human sensibility. Tseng invites works, which embrace the complexity and diversity of this most basic element of nature and its poetic beauty while acknowledge the unique values of it.

Dojima River Biennale, 2013 will open to the public on July 20th, 2013 and continue throughout August. We are pleased to reveal the first selection of artists invited to participate in Dojima River Biennale, 2013: Chao-Ming Deng, NS Harsha, Takashi Ishida, Mingwei Lee, Aditya Novali, Araya Rasdjarmrearnsook, Taro Shinodo, Tadasu Takamine, Charwei Tsai, team Lab, Lyota Yagi and Goang-Ming Yuan.
