Le Huy Hoang: Rain

When 26 - 30 Mar 2010
Where Nhasan Studio (Nha San Duc), Hanoi

After his solo exhibition “Scarf”, which took place at Nhasan Studio in 2009, Le Huy Hoang continues to explore and use both natural and industrial materials in this exhibition. In the middle of the exhibition space lies a cabbage garden, which will keep growing throughout the duration of the show. Above it is a shower of rain, made from thousands of needles. “I want to portray a sense of contrary. These fragile seeds of life are trying to grow. But how can they grow naturally when there are so many forces trying to alter and stop them?”, Hoang explains.

'Rain' is part of Nhasan Studio's first “EMERGING ARTIST PROGRAM”, which will take place throughout 2010 with six solo exhibitions by Le Huy Hoang, Nguyen Tran Nam, Nguyen Phuon Linh, Lai Dieu Ha, Nguyen Trinh Thi and Nguyen Van Phuc. These six artists have all worked individually and collaboratively in various projects, such as the 10+ exhibition to celebrate Nhasan studio’s 10th anniversary (2008), the Young Contemporary Art Festival at the Fine Arts University (2007) and Saigon Open City (2006).
