Dimension Endowment of Art | TaipeiAAA is currently digitising invaluable slide documentation from the Dimension Endowment of Art (DEOA). Founded in 1989, Dimension Endowment of Art focuses on improving the quality of Taiwanese art education and promoting contemporary art in Taiwan through scholarly research. Between 1994-2001, DEOA operated an exhibition space and built a comprehensive archive for contemporary art developments. DEOA operated during the critical era before and after the implementation of Martial Law in Taiwan, and the archive includes documentation of important art events, as well as artworks and exhibitions by local artists of different generations.
The slide collection includes prominent figures in the Taiwanese contemporary art scene such as Yu Peng, Wang Jun-Jieh, Lee Ming-Tse, Wu Tien-Chang, Wu Mali, Michael Lin, Hou Chun-Ming, Yao Jui-Chung, Kuo Wei-Kuo, Tsong Pu, Chen Shun-Chu, Chen Hui-Chiao, Chen Chieh-Jen, Mei Dean-E, Ku Shih-Yung, and many others. The archive is made more significant in that a number of these artists went on to become figures in the Taiwanese contemporary art scene as founders of influential artist collectives or schools, directors of prestigious art institutes, and renowned artists.
The digitisation phase of this project is scheduled for completion in mid-2012. AAA will start uploading the digitised material to its Collection Online in late 2012.
