Press Release
Most of Ho Siu-kee's artwork start with the exploration of his own bodily perception and appear in form of self-portraiture by employing different media such as wearable sculpture and photography. The artistic expression materializes and projects the innate perceptual experience to the viewers which is expected to make up the communication between the ‘Self’ and the ‘Others’. The sculpture x photography works being shown in the 'Heavenly Mundanity' exhibition are the extension of the previous developed 'Aureola Series'. The steel sculptural object with his performative involvement in it is presented in form of photograph. From the purified backdrop in the 'Aureola Series' to the diverse city scenes in 'Heavenly Mundanity', the shifting of the context does provide him different perceptual experience. Eventually, 'the one to perceive' and 'the one being perceived' are indeed two in one.
